What a waste of a beautiful Saturday...
Wanted to go out and treat myself to something nice but I woke up late due to last night's stupid funfair ride that made me end up feeling dizzy and nauseous up until this moment of writing this entry. Wanted to go for my evening jog but this headache has been pounding on my head thanks to last night's ride.
And I am not feeling good emotionally as well. Some other person's bad mood has successfully infected me.
Anyway after that uneventful ride that got me all pening-pening lalat, I got to sit at a corner while waiting for my sisters and brother enjoying themselves on other rides and eat funfair food of cold nuggets-on-a-stick, chewy keropok lekor and stale iced Milo (which I might give in and indulge thus spoiling my diet should I not feeling vomit-like). And so I sat at a corner a bit far from the excited crowd with their head hung up in the sky toiling back and forth following the motion of the tall rides at the same time basking in the distasteful and deafening of at least 6 dance and trance music blasting simultaneously.
Oh gosh, my headache and nausea got worse just by sitting there. But anyway I got to watch the crowd filled with mostly young teenagers in groups spending away their Friday night. I know I have seen today's teenagers everywhere, last night was not the first time that I get to look at them closely and think about the situation that they are in. Hm I am not talking about the cool fashion trend that they get to don in and get away without people sniggering behind their back. I am more worried about the their future, what's with the current economic backlash.
If you Google “unemployed graduates” you’ll find a string of blogs, news archives relating to Malaysian unemployed graduates. According to a source, there are 60,000 unemployed Malaysian graduates. Wow, that's a lot. Hmm I wonder whether that number tops the total UiTM students, the one and only university in Malaysia that has a branch like, everywhere.
There are some quarters who sympathize with these graduates and even blame corporate companies for not making available more opportunities. The numbers are crazy, ridiculous and ludicrous – as is all the sympathy being showered on these graduates. As the number increases, the attitude and ability of the graduates go downhill. Which I totally agree. Myself I do mingle with students, not through job but it so happens that my brother and boyfriend are undergraduates themselves. And many of my friends are either studying or just graduated.
I do agree that a small percentage of the students possess highly sought-after skills and have the right attitute to go with it. But the majority are just there at the university with no other objectives and life missions than just to melawa, melaram, mencari teman hidup dan menggedik. Ohoho believe me please, I have witnessed the scenario and became a victim of the situation myself.
These kids, shameful enough being born close to a quarter of a century already but not able to carry a decent conversation. And you call yourself a degree student? When they talk, it's all empty you can even hear the clanking of a tin kosong. Siap diselang-selikan oleh perkataan-perkataan yang tak sedap telinga didengar. Yes, that includes the F word. They think they are so cool to utter the F word.
Call me whatever you want but I am so sick of those kids who have got nothing better to do than pose cutely and self-snap themselves with a digital camera or a camera phone. That's their daily activities in the university. Apart from the abovementioned. Tak malu betul nak act cute and let the rest of the world to see how poyo you are. The sad thing is, people actually think they are cute and start telling their partners to act/ wear/ pose/ have similar hairdo.
These kids they may have the looks, but no brains.
Hmm you must be wondering what possessed me again this time to write such an hateful and anger-filled entry. Maybe the fact that I am disappointed with myself not to fill in such a lovely Saturday with better things to do.

Anything can happen
You can be caught off-handed anytime nowadays if you're oblivious to your surroundings. When you have grown into your little familiar world, you know every bird chirpings and rustle of wind, you are very wrong when you feel that you're safe.
That's what I used to think. Until my house got broken into last night.
Even though we were all scared and frustrated that the incident happened, we were all very thankful to God that at least we are all safe and breathing. Not slaughtered off like those unfortunate souls you tend to read about everyday in the news.
We think that this is a dugaan from Allah SWT, and we can only pray that the incident won't happen again, semoga Allah menggantikan dengan ganjaran yang lebih baik nikmatnya daripada apa yang telah diambil oleh-Nya.
The valuables that we have lost away to that rotten fella who broke in, mungkin semua itu ditakdirkan untuk hanya dipinjamkan sementara kepada kita. Tak ada rezeki nak simpan lama-lama. Subhanallah.

Supermom
I have been wanting to write this entry about this dear friend of mine, Erlina the Superwoman. Hmm nope she does not wear a supertight size S costume and fly in and out of Langkawi saving people in distress nor does she ever wear glasses helping her father in their farm. Why I say she is a superwoman is that she is strong physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally, all in. And she is able to exude her aura to the people around her, influencing them all for the good. She is a good role model in a sense.
I remembered when we used to hang out when studying in Kedah some years ago, she was always able to voice out her thoughts and opinions and making them sound very convincing that you almost believe every words she say. You see, it is not about whether it is the truth or not that she is saying, it is more to being confident and sure of yourself. And Erlina is that. Needless to say, I was always terperangkap with her crazy ideas and plans. I remembered this one time on a New Year's eve, I was happily awaiting on the new year reciting some verses from the Quran in my hostel room, Erlina barged in and managed to persuade me to travel back all the way to Penang that night to celebrate the New Year's eve in Penang. Let me also inform you guys that our uni is right smack in the middle of a nowhere land and you need to travel about 25mins through a vast rubber estate/ jungle, no road side lamps, you can bump into anything, and I do mean anything, along the road.
Erlina always seem to know what she wants. She wanted a happy family, so she married her then sweetheart Masri. She knew back then that she had better options and marriage was not the only option that she has. She can always go to London, be with her mom and get a UK degree. But she thought long term and knew her priorities in life, and she did not just put herself in the picture.
Who would want to throw away a glamorous life in London and live in a kampung in a hot small little island in northern Malaysia?
However, she is doing pretty well as a wife. Then, a mother to a beautiful girl, Emilia. I don't know that you can provide so much to someone and still have enough left for another. She is a wonderful wife, and a terrific mother. There are so many things to write about what she has done, I just don't know where to start :) But the things that she did really teach me a great lesson; be really really sure of what you want, do it with all your heart and soul. Be ikhlas and insya Allah God will help you achieve. And the satisfaction will come thereafter and you will have no regrets.

No 2 is good enough!
Heralding the no 2 champion of MICPASS hiking competition last Saturday....Ernst & Young! :) (though I was not the one who made it for the winning time count but hey, it's all about team spirit right?!)
It was all about good fun, thanks to the managers who are also the sponsors for the event, i.e. Mr Chin and Su Ling who went up to hike with us! Also thanks for the nasi kandar treat! As per Mr Chin, we all retrieve back all the calories burnt by loading up on the curry sotong, udang, ayam, mutton bla bla. Hehe. Once in a while la! Can right!! :P
Also congratulations to KPMG who made it to the first spot. I guess you all deserved it, since the winning guy took only 20minutes from the starting point to the top. Wahlaaweiiii!

As I mature...
... the lessons that I have learned along the way in life are:
1) I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in...
2) I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jackasses.
3) I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
4) I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.
5) I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think.
6) I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
7) I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off.
8) I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished.
9) I've learned to not sweat the petty things, and not pet the sweaty things.
10) I've learned that no matter how beautiful your relationship is in the beginning, it is never going to stay that way unless you and your partner work hard to maintain it that way.
11) I've learned age is a very high price to pay for maturity.
12) I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.
13) I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
14) I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.
15) I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away. And the real pains in the a$$ are permanent.
I don't always have the answers to everything, But I know what to question... and my sixth sense seldom betrays me...

Happy Halloween >:D
Happy Halloween everyone. Even though Halloween is like every other normal day to us Malaysians, it's kind of entertaining how some people are trying to make it sound as if it is a big deal and worth declaring a public holiday of. As if they celebrated Halloween all along. When the truth is that most of their 31st Octobers are actually spent at a mamak joint.
Enough about Halloween. I want to tell you about the great and fulfilling weekend that I had. Last Saturday was spent by me being busy rushing off to places to get ready for my firm's annual dinner. Morning was spent hunting for a preferably black-and-red shawl, so off me and my mom to Chowrasta Bazaar to check out the cheap stuffs they have to offer there. At last I bought a red shawl which cost me RM15 only, compared to the one I had been eyeing at Queensbay Mall which cost a whopping RM199. Nasib baik tak beli yang mahal haha. So, while we were at Penang Road, as usual, layan air sarbat and cucur udang Chowrasta dulu laa...hehehe.
The rest of the preparation for the annual dinner...was a bit disastrous. Somehow I over-budgeted the time for me to get ready. The dinner was supposed to start at 6.30pm but only at 3.45pm I went to the salon to get my hair washed and blew. Being Malaysians, my appointment was ignored of, so I when went there they made me wait. And waiting (at that moment, or any other moment for that matter) is something I cannot afford, as I need to see my mak andam somewhere around 4.30pm. So when I checked with the mak andam, she said that I might have to forget about my face being done by her. So sad and dissappointed! I'm not that good at applying make-ups!
Shouldn't have gone to the salon! Cuz after all the long shampooing, massaging, washing and blowing, my hair looked like as if nothing has been done to it at all. I think I can do better than those people at the D' View salon. Don't ever go there, people. I ban the salon forever and ever. And they made me late for my make-up appointment. Therefore, I went to the annual dinner looking like how I normally would look on my shopping days.
And I did not get the 32" Samsung LCD Screen TV. All I got is a Tupperware. Don't ask me how it looks like.
And the food is pretty lousy. Well, I might enjoy it without the corset that I am wearing. My back felt like breaking into two!!!! So I left right after the dinner. Cannot tahan the pain! Killed my mood to act cute in front of the camera.
The next morning was supposed to be my flight to KL. And I woke up late, but luckily enough I managed to get to the airport in time. So while waiting for the flight I put on my contact lenses - unfortunately one of them got inside my eyelids and behind my eyeball! Panic attack! That was the second time it happened to me. So during the flight I was trying so hard, massage2 my right eyeball so that the lense will show itself. Right before landing, it did. Phew. Lucky. If not maybe I will get eye cancer (is there such disease?). Thank God.
So after touch down, off I went to Fadh's wedding at Masjid al-Mukarramah, Bandar Sri Damansara. Reached there about 11.30am, and I was there rather early to witness the solemnisation ceremony. Fadh looked really beautiful, and all in all it was a very happy and fulfilling ceremony, though a bit sad la kan. There goes another friend of mine into marriagedom... To my dearest friend Fadh, and hubby Thani, congratulations to the both of you. This is what you have always dreamed of and I am happy that it finally happens. And thanks for doakan I :) Will miss our single moments together...
OK, so the wedding reception. Good food (dah lama tak makan nasi kenduri) and great friends (was expecting more friends to attend but the ones who came were enough to make my trip to KL worthwhile). Though the sun had no mercy on us (my face looked like gred A belacan) we had a good time. Pinky, Dino, Din, Amir, Shammy, Rafiq and family, Roho and others, it was awesome to be able to hang out and laugh again. And I really want to applaud my Dear who made an effort to make an appearance as well (kenduri kahwin wajib attend tau kalau dijemput!).
All in all, it was a happy but rather tiring day. From 11.30am I ended up staying until the reception ended at about 4.30pm. So, the rest of the day was spent resting and bonding with my Dear.
The next morning was my flight back to Penang - thanks to my Dear whom willingly waited up an unexpected 2 hours due to the flight delay. Not to mention the long sleepy drive to LCC Terminal. AirAsia - Now everyone can fly late!
So, not a smooth-sailing weekend that I had but I enjoyed every moment of it :)

KL KL
Today is the last day for my Puasa Enam, alhamdulillah dapat jugak habiskan Puasa Enam ni, dah bertahun rasanya tinggalkan puasa sunat ni :) Semoga tahun-tahun depan pun dapat buat jugak, insya Allah. It's actually up to your effort, either you are up to it or not. Either you are willing to give up those fun lunch times with your colleagues and the menu which are not so tempting if you are not fasting but suddenly becomes tantalizing when you are. Yeah..so here I am writing this entry during a lunch time on a beautiful Friday afternoon :)
Anyway, I am looking forward to Sunday, which will be a dear friend Fadh's wedding. Hey I specially booked flight tickets to go and back from KL, all because I have the Firm's annual dinner tomorrow, if not I can just take the bus down to KL tomorrow. And I don't want to miss the annual dinner, who knows I might be lucky enough to get selected to win the 32" Samsung LCD TV! :P
To meet up with good old friends from UiTM Shah Alam while I was studying for my ACCA (those were the times) and also friends from London. I am truly blessed to have forged friendship with so many wonderful people from my course of life. Each of them have their own unique characteristics in them that makes them special to me. It is true when people say not to look at the bad qualities in a person, but search for the good traits, even if it's the tiniest ones. It is hard to like and love someone whom you hated his or her guts, but just try to always remember the goodness the person has in him or her, insya Allah you will try to appreciate that person.
Anyway since I have been fasting for the whole week, I am also looking forward to eat the good food laid down upon me this weekend! Good food eaten with the company of great friends - what more can you ask for?!!! *happy*
Well despite my excitement and anticipation of this weekend, I am feeling kind of sad and down as well. Why oh why? I do not want to type in everything in here but enough for that person to know that I am a bit kecil hati with how that person is treating me at the moment. I do not know what the person is trying to prove or what is going on in that person's head. So why don't you go and sort your mind and feelings out. So that you don't always have to create reasons to treat me like you did. And you know what? I will still pray for your happiness and success in life. If you are happy doing this to me (and to other people - if any), may God bless you. Because I have known you for most of my adult years and I treasure our friendship. And we have witnessed each other grow into who we are now.
I don't know what to say. Except, "Oh KL, here I come!"

Liar liar
Have you ever got lied to by someone? Or, does someone who give empty promises considered lying?
If yes, then what do you feel when you found out that someone actually has the cheek to lie to you? I am sure you will feel sad and betrayed, especially when you are not the type who blab lies to anyone at all, then why would other people do that to you?
And what do you do when you found out? It just so happens that the person is a terrible liar. He doesn't make an effort at all to sound convincing.
For me, I am too nice a person to actually put him/ her to shame that I actually know their old dog's tricks. Normally I will keep quiet, putting a mental note that I would never have a 100% trust in this person ever again. Once a liar, always a liar. I can't stand it when people lie to me when I don't do that to people. Don't they just realize that it is a sin? Astaghfirullahalazim. To them, lies keluar macam air je, it just comes out naturally from their mouth. Tak perlu nak fikir-fikir nak menipu tentang apa.
Don't you just wonder what is going on in their sick little minds?
Same goes to the people with empty promises. Why bother showering people with hope when you don't have the intention to fulfill it. You will only left people heartbroken and disappointed. No matter how small your promises are, when you say that I think you have the obligation to make it happen.
Lembu berpegang kepada tali,
Manusia berpegang kepada janji.

Of netball, caffe latte and cupcakes...
I never knew the game netball can be quite fun. I only wish I have the basic knowledge of the game's rules and skills then maybe I might be able to enjoy it more. Well, it's just that I have been attending the firm's weekly netball training to prepare the team for the upcoming annual MICPASS games. For those who might not know, MICPASS is an annual tournament of various games and competitions for all the accounting firms in Penang. Yeah, it is to prove that us accountants are able to put other body parts into use apart then our calculator-crunching fingers.
So... I attend the netball training though seriously, I know jacksh!+ about the game, other than the fact that the ball is orange in colour. Though come to think I might also be rather mistaken about that, cuz lately during training I saw there is this one other ball which is a combination of the colour white, red and blue. Anyway though I might not be in the primary team for the game, more likely a Reserve due to my unskillfulness, it feels nice to be able to play such an interesting and challenging game. I was told by the trainer that netball is the hardest ball game to play. Unlike basketball where you can simply wack and belasah ajer asal masuk net. Hm, then why haven't I play the game before? In secondary school maybe, since I find it an interesting game to play? Hah, blame it on my school!!! The school which makes its students bury their heads in books to excel in their studies, and worry not about anything else in the outside world other than getting A's in their exams.
On another note, I met up with a primary school friend whom I have lost contact with since like, 14 years ago? On this one fine day I was very free and got nothing to do, and tried to type in all (almost) of my school friends' names in the Facebook/ Friendster search and was able to find some primary school friends. Among them is my dear friend Loke Phei Ling.
So to cut the story short, we have arranged to meet up today over a cup of coffee. Though very excited, at first I was a bit anxious about the meeting since we haven't meet up for sooo long! What did we use to talk about in school? What would we talk about later?
But fortunately it went very well. There were so many things to talk about. Childhood memories, updating each other on what happened after we left primary school in 1994, about current life and future plans. Phei Ling has such good memories! She was telling me how she bumped into a few of our schoolmates years after we had left school and was able to recognize their face. And also she was telling me how I looked totally different from before, apparently I have lost a lot of weight. To prove that, she took out a photograph of myself taken somewhere 11 years ago which she has got into possession of as we used to write letters to each other for a couple of years while in secondary school and I happened to give her a picture of mine during that period of time. Hah I looked so horrible in the picture :P So...round! :D
Anyway I hope we can hang around again. At least I have someone to hang out with in Penang. All is because I am friendless in Penang!! And we plan to hold a small reunion of Class Of '94 in the near future :)
On the other hand, I am sure you all know that the cupcake frenzy has taken over Malaysia for more than a couple of years ago and the madness is getting more intense over the days. Cupcakes are replacing the 5-tier wedding cakes, birthday cakes, wedding doorgifts, etc. The patterns are so cute and creative that they will catch anyone's attention. And the prices are pretty affordable as well.
I am thinking of trying to bake some. Might come in handy in the future :) Mana la tau nanti-nanti nak bake anak punya birthday cake ke? :) Uhh...jauhnya saya memandang ke hadapan :p
So... I attend the netball training though seriously, I know jacksh!+ about the game, other than the fact that the ball is orange in colour. Though come to think I might also be rather mistaken about that, cuz lately during training I saw there is this one other ball which is a combination of the colour white, red and blue. Haha, this one makes me laugh! Do join in to laugh as well: -
FIVE RULES FOR MEN
TO FOLLOW FOR A HAPPY LIFE:
1. Get a woman who helps at home, cooks and cleans up.
2. Get a woman, who can make you smile and laugh.
3. Get a woman who you can trust and who does not lie to you.
4. Get a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you.
5. It is very important that these four women do not know each other.Laughing? Check out this other one, just as funny! :-)
WOULD YOU GET MARRIED AGAIN???
A husband and wife are sitting quietly in bed reading when the wife looks over at him and asks the question….
WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?"
HUSBAND: "Definitely not!"
WIFE: "Why not? Don't you like being married?"
HUSBAND: "Of course I do."
WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?"
HUSBAND: "Okay, okay, I'd get married again."
WIFE: "You would?" (with a hurt look)
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan)
WIFE: "Would you live in our house?"
HUSBAND: "Sure, it's a great house."
WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?"
HUSBAND: "Where else would we sleep?"
WIFE: "Would you let her drive my car?"
HUSBAND: "Probably, it is almost new."
WIFE: "Would you replace my pictures with hers? "
HUSBAND: "That would seem like the proper thing to do."
WIFE: "Would you give her my jewelry?"
HUSBAND: "No, I'm sure she' d want her own."
WIFE: "Would you take her golfing with you?
HUSBAND: "Yes, those are always good times."
WIFE: "Would she use my clubs?
HUSBAND: "No, she's left-handed."
WIFE: — silence –
HUSBAND: "DAMN.

Bengang Bangattt!
Are you stressed when you are the victim of someone's bad mood swings, anger and frustration? Or when you talk to someone and: -
1) That someone as if masuk telinga kanan and keluar telinga kiri? When you are bubbling away with passion and excitement and the recipient just take the first detour spotted at a moment of a millisecond pause, muttered nonsense and talk about something else as if you have never uttered a word in the first place?
2) That someone talked as if you are a nuisance to that someone's life and as if wishing you never opened up your mouth at all?
3) That someone just blab away just for the sake of making a noise in order to respond to your earlier question or query.
What am I to do with these kind of people? You simply can't retort back in the same manner they treated you, it is only going to deteriorate any sort of bond you have already built and worked on thus far.
Despite these people treated you as if you are of a negative value in their life, you just can't and refuse to find in your inner self to hate them, for maybe these people behaved they way they did because that was how they were treated at a certain point in their lives. Nak marah pun tak jadi, sebab kesian bila tahu sejarah hidup diorang.
And they find it OK to portray it upon others.
And even if someone point out to them that it is actually not OK, they don't really care at all because there are many more people around them who are willing to put on a blind eye due to, say, love and affection?
But don't you wish that you are forever surrounded by good-natured people? Who care about every single word you say, who are able to read between the lines, deciphering that you are not fine when you say you are? Who laughs at your jokes and cries at your sorrow? Who notices at the first squeak of your voice that you are really not OK?
You can only doa to God so that these people whom I have mentioned earlier will be more sensitive to the feelings of the people around. Because I believe everyone has that slight feeling of love in them, that they do care about others. They just have to nurture that bit of feeling so that it'll grow and flourish. And our job is to remind them that the world is actually filled with wondrous things if they open up their heart.
Hmm apa-apa je lah yang aku bebelkan hari ni. Hanya sekadar luahan perasaan...hehe.

Post Raya Blues
I am back at work, and I am still in Hari Raya mood. How??
I guess I should not have applied for so long a leave until there is no motivation left for me to resume my working life. But I had a nice long Raya holiday, all in all. Managed to sort some personal matters, received a last-minute visit from a special someone, ate a lot of good Raya food, met up with old friends from high school...oh how I love the Raya season! And how stressed I am when the needle is at the wrong side of the weighing scale! Arght!
I wished I could have visited more friends but this time I spent most of my Raya holidays in Penang, while most of my good friends are in KL. Anyhow I am looking forward to meeting up with a lot of friends during the wedding of a dear friend Fadh, end of the month in KL.
But seriously, I am teeny weeny relieved to be at work after such a long leave. So sangap, that my brain almost stopped functioning!
Have to be careful to not overeat once the fasting month is over. Maybe I should start to puasa enam. Anyone joining me?

Vay-kay!
My raya holiday starts this Monday right up until 7 October! Yeay! I am looking forward to a very good rest, spend a lot of "me" time, prepare for the Hari Raya...and so many other things to do which I do not have the time to attend to since I am so busy with work.
I want to watch a lot of DVDs, send out some Raya greetings to family, friends and relatives and also to read some good book by the beach and get some tan while waiting for iftar hee hee :D Hope that comes true though...
And to shop for some Raya goodies... Happy nya!

Salam Nuzul Quran
Quran is Allah's message to His servants and a light for mankind. There is no way to Allah's pleasure except through it. It is revealed in the best of all months. The best way you can spend your time during this month is to recite the Quran as frequently as possible. Read it, reflect on its meaning and work by its injunctions. This is because the Quran contains admonitions and lessons that increase one's humility and humbleness. If you don't understand the Arabic Language (Subhanallah, what a beautiful language), you can always read the tafsir.
How's puasa so far for everyone?
Alhamdulillah for me everything is going on very well indeed. So far the jobs that I have been assigned to in this holy month of Ramadhan are not too taxing, belum lagi la nak kena buka puasa dekat client's place or in office. Solat terawih pun alhamdulillah belum tinggal lagi hehe (hopefully I can still continue until the next 2 weeks), dan harap-harap jugak dapat khatam Quran sekaligus.
It is amazing how relatively easy it feels for you to perform any sort of ibadah and prayers to Allah SWT in the month of Ramadhan, as compared to the other months. Is this because of the absence of the satans and djins? So, marilah kita ramai-ramai cuba membanyakkan ibadah di bulan puasa ini. It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God and self-control.
Rasulullah SAW once said "I only curse 3 types of people, whom are" : -
1) Those people who do not look after their parents when they are in old age
2) Those people who do not take full advantage of the blessed month of Ramadhan
3) Those people who do not say "Sallallahu-alayhi-waalayhi-wasallam" when my name is mentioned
Semoga kita dijauhkan dari perbuatan-perbuatan yang tidak elok. I feel sad to see or hear stories Muslim couples shamelessly hug and kiss and God knows what other types of maksiat they are resorting to in this month of Ramadhan. Some can’t even restrain themselves to carefully selecting good words in their daily conversation. Be it the F word or no F word. Dah tua-tua pon masih tak senonoh dan makin tak sedar diri. Astaghfirullahalazim.
But I feel most sad when I hear people creating reasons not to take full advantage of this holy month. A friend recently told me "Minggu depan aje lah I baca Quran sebab I tertinggal Quran dekat rumah parents I". Astaghfirullahalazim. I mean, hello? I am sure dekat masjid sebelah rumah tu ada berlambak-lambak Quran which I am sure the Pak Imam or Bilal or the masjid caretaker will be more than willing to let you borrow one for a week or two. But yeah, some people create reasons. And they expect God to show mercy on their sorry, miserable lives?
"Funny how everyone wants to go to Heaven, provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Quran says".
Nauzubillahiminzalik, semoga saya tidak mudah dipengaruhi oleh orang-orang yang sebegini.
Dear friends, make good use of this honourable month because it is a transient visitor. Receive it with a sincere repentance and spend your time during the month is acts of obedience to your Lord.
Wahhh, you guys must be thinking that I am possessed to be writing such a...pious entry :) Well, I am like most people out there, I am not a saint but I hope to always better myself in any way that I can. And my wish is that more people will realize that there are here on Earth as a khalifah to Allah SWT and they have duties to fulfil.
Haih…banyak betul saya beristighfar dalam entry ni. Hehe.
Selamat menyambut Hari Nuzul Quran to everyone :)

TLC Me!
Do you think RM1,200 is expensive for a 20-session facial package? Can someone give me an opinion on this? I have never sign up for any facial package before, normally I go for single sessions which would cost approximately RM100 per session. But if I sign up for a package, it'll be about RM60 for a facial treatment session which is quite worth it, non?
I believe that more women should take care of their health and beauty, from head to toe, at a young age. I am sure no one wants irreversible wrinkles and sags and realizes it is too late (and too expensive) to do anything about it!
Oh talking about health and beauty (H&B), below is my H&B wish list at the moment: -
1. A pair of Asics Gel Nimbus 10 running shoes (so I can run faster and longer!)
2. Pedometer (to see if I can really measure up 10,000 steps in a day)
3. Face masks (any masks will do, at least I tempek something on my face)
That's all I guess. As if I got a lot of $$$ to further expand my list he he.

Touchy
Do find a guy, who calls you beautiful instead of hot.
Who calls you back when you hang up on him.
Who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.
Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead.
Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats.
Who holds your hand in front of his friends.
Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you.
Wait for the one who turns to his friends andsays, "...that's her."
I can't help it but to post this here, I got to read about this in a friend's blog posting and it is just so touching..
For Richer Or Poorer
Finally after servicing (slaving?) for my firm for a year, I got promoted yesterday. We all were given our promotion letters after an "open session" with the Partners (fyi, the "open session" is more like a Q&A session which is held annually and at this event the staffs are allowed to ask anything, to complain and menghentam the management kalau tak puas hati about anything at all regarding the firm).
Yesterday, the excitement was in the air since we were told earlier that the management is going to revise our salary, in order to be at par with the other Big 4 firms, seems like we are being left behind in terms of staff remuneration. So when each of us got our "surat keramat", masing-masing punya la excited nak tengok berapakah salary revision kitorang. If to be at least at par with a particular leading Big 4 firm, our salary revision should be agak sedap jugak la. But then bila bukak aje surat tu...aiseh...my heart dropped to the floor. In disappointment, mind you. The increment is not like what all of us had hoped, or expected. But the thing that had left us feeling really sad is the fact that there is not much difference in the salary of the experienced junior associate (with >1 year experience) and the fresh junior associate without any experience. That left us all reeled in anger, it got us to think whether the experienced junior associates group is of any importance to the firm. And it was yesterday that I heard some of my colleagues are planning to leave the firm already...due to this reason. Haih...I am going to lose some colleagues whom are very dear to me... So last night a bunch of us went out for drinks and bi@tch about the unhappiness in our hearts. Hidup ini tidak selalunya indah. Well, to look on the bright side, at least I got promoted... Being human beings we aren't always thankful unless we compare ourselves to those who are less fortunate than us, not to those who are superior than us...
On the other hand, it has been raining in the evenings for a week now, it is difficult for yours truly to go for her evening run. Macam mana nak turunkan berat badan in time for annual dinner ni? Hmm... Which reminds me that I still yet to decide on what to wear (or to "become") for that night. The theme is "Hollywood Glitz", I think the idea is to come dressed as any of your favourite movie character, that includes Walt Disney's.
Though it is raining for the whole day today (seriously I hate rainy days), it's quite a productive day today. Well, if you call buying 6 pieces of top and a pair of pants productive, haha! But Parkson offers a really good deal today! 50% plus additional 40% discount. Can anyone tell it to my face that it is not a good bargain?? I just love the happiness of carrying around shopping bags!
Off to iftar now. Toodles!

Happy Anniversary!
Tomorrow (3rd Sept) marks my 1st year with Ernst & Young (EY) Penang. I did not think that I can actually reach the 1-year mark, because initially, you can say that I was not that happy in EY. Even when I was in Grant Thornton (GT) pun I tak sampai setahun, short by 2-weeks even though I was kind of happy there, I made many good friends. In EY, from the first day that I joined, people there were always planting all sorts of stories, rumours, gossips about my new workplace that I could not wait to get myself out of there a.s.a.p, that I did not care to stay to find out if all the stories have any glint of truth in them. And so I was applying other jobs elsewhere and got a few offers too, but then I was a bit malas to berpindah randah and start all over again cuz by that time I was already as good as 3 months into employment in EY. 3 months got into 6, 9 and seterusnya sampai laa harini.
To tell you the truth, EY is not that bad. One thing that I am very thankful for is that I am allocated into a big group which generally hold rather reasonable client portfolio. That is important, because we do not have to work around the clock for really cranky clients who do not know how to appreciate other human beings. Life is definitely better for the people in my group.
Initially I was kind of lonely in EY. I do not know that many people and I do not talk their language. Whenever I was in a big group I guess I stuck out like a sore thumb for I was obviously the quiet one. But I don't think that is a reason not to make any friends, because I learn now that friendship transpires languages, customs and religions. The funny thing is I even sang a Mandarin song for my annual dinner :D Even though I hardly understand the meaning of the song, for I just sort of memorized the words haha. Actually, there are a lot of people worthy of good friends in EY. Friends whom I can share thoughts and feelings, friends who came through the same way as I did and I can absolutely relate to their experiences.
And I get to meet with a lot of people too, especially when dealing with the clients. Sure, it's seldom when we auditors are treated with utmost respect by the clients, especially when they try very hard to avoid us. The sighs we hear when we walked into a finance or accounts department. Ha ha. But I have to say some clients are really professional in their attitude and work behaviour, for them I take my hat off.
I also have learn to participate in sports. I have to admit I am not that good in sports, for me sports is just about going to gym and running. Team sports and ball games...erm not really. But hey, just for the fun of it I joined the netball, volleyball, tug-og-war and hiking training and had a lot of fun. Though now I still duck out whenever a ball is about to come my way, I don't care, at least I show face for the training... :p Badan pun rasa sihat jer, dulu when I was working in KL jarang sangat exercise, sebulan sekali pun payah. Sekarang ni seminggu alhamdulillah dalam 3-4 hari tu mesti ada aktiviti bersukan. Hmmm no wonder I ballooned up when I was in KL. Dah la hari-hari makan breakfast and lunch kat kedai mamak. Then after office hour pun lepak and yumcha dekat mamak jugak. And you know la mamak food, none of them is healthy kan. But in Penang, life is more laidback. You can drive out for lunch, opt for healthier options. Drive out for lunch in KL? Kirim salam laa...sape nak sacrifice that one-hour lunch time just to get to your destination? Suddenly greasy mamak food tastes yummier.
So you can say I am rather contented with my life here in Penang. Hmm...isn't "contented" sometimes not a good thing to feel?

Sahaja aku berpuasa...
Selamat menyambut bulan Ramadhan al-Mubarak to all Muslim readers. Semoga bulan yang mulia ini membawa seribu keberkatan, semoga kita berupaya mengerjakan sebanyak mungkin ibadah kepada-Nya dan yang penting sekali, semoga ibadah kita diterima oleh Allah SWT.
I am pretty excited with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadhan, for I have always feel at ease and peace it usually brings. I marvel at the thought of how easy it feels not to think about food at every minute of the day when you are fasting and got your niat right. I think that if you think of fasting as an ibadah to Allah SWT and that you are ikhlas about it and not think that fasting is just merely not being able to go out for lunch with your friends and munch on snacks, you won't feel hungry at all. In fact you will cruise on throughout the day easily, moreover energetically since you are not lethargic with that full plate of chicken briyani you just gulped down for lunch. And, not to mention te possibilty of being on the right side of the weighing scale (provided you don't overindulge during iftar!).
So yeah, I am looking forward for Ramadhan. Though I pray hard that the job I'm assigned to for the next whole month won't be too taxing on the time. Kalau tak macam mana nak pegi solat terawih ni? Dah le tak dapat menyambut hari pertama puasa, so I miss the first solat terawih. Sedihnya... It's ironic, when I was in London almost every night I went for the solat terawih at the surau. Ni bila dah kat negara sendiri, susah nya nak pegi walaupun half of a week. Tapi, kali ni, ada je masa, I berazam nak pegi. Lagipun masjid belakang rumah aje. Jalan pun tak sampai 3 minit, cuma nak atau tak nak je. Tapi ye lah, hopefully I won't be so busy with work! :
Tadi pegi Giant to buy groceries, to stock up for the fasting month. Punya lah ramai manusia dekat Giant tu, semua orang pun tolak trolley so it was kind of difficult to walk through the small isles. The trolleys, the patrons who purposely stand in the middle of the aisle, howling kids on the floor crying for his favourite candy... Semua orang pun borong groceries berlambak-lambak, haih nak rasa geram pun tak patut la because I was there with the same mission as them.
Anyway, hope I can lose some weight during this fasting month. But then I was thinking, how can I go for my run or hike during this one month...mesti terjelepok punya...unless I start my run at 7-ish, then balik terus buka puasa minum air sepuas-puas hati... Or an alternative is to try other forms of exercise, maybe skipping ke, lepas buka puasa. Nak jog malam-malam, tak berani la pulak nak pergi park or the field. I guess I might try skipping la kot. Plus, solat terawih is a form of exercise, apetah lagi ustaz kat masjid belakang rumah ni baca cepat giler, tak terkejar dia sometimes hehe... Till next time, selamat bersahur esok! :)

Sister Sister
In less than 2 weeks' time my cute little sister will be facing one the many of huge tests that her life has in store for her. She is going to sit for her first big exam ever, the UPSR. I don't know if she studies hard enough though of course she goes to her tuition class like, everyday. I am afraid if anything might happen to her on the big day itself, she might fall sick, or get totally blanked out. Nauzubillahiminzalik, I pray none of that will happen to her. She is supposed to get 5 straight A's in her UPSR and that is why I came back to Penang last year, to ensure that she excels. Though I am a little bit regret I don't coach her as often as I had wished to, I know I contributed a little something. So Janna, make sure Janna dapat 5A tau! Go to the best school to reap out the best education it has to provide you.
That sister of mine, boy is she growing. Though not fully blossomed into her adolescence, I can see little pimples shrouding her forehead already. The funny thing is, before this she will shrug off those little dots as rashes but now she is really kind of worried about them. So I bought her a special face scrub and instruct her to apply it on her face once in 2 days. To my little surprise, she followed my advice and, come to me on most nights to ask me to apply a special cream for her face that Mama bought for her. :)
Anyway adik, all the best for your UPSR! Kakak will pray for you OK! Walaupun adik ni kadang-kadang bermulut laser and tak suka syampu rambut, you are still my comel sister! :P

The Four Girls
I went to watch Sex and The City - The Movie yesterday. I was so excited, and I really miss those four girls. Though the movie is a tad bit disappointing in the sense that there are a lot of scenes being censored, and sentences sort of hang in the air and you get confused what's going on. Other than that, the girls looked fabulous and everything about the movie is almost perfect. The dresses, shoes, bags, storyline, soundtracks. Or maybe I am just so excited to be able to watch Sex and The City again that I didn't mind what it is all about anyway.
The movie was funny (Samantha was just downright hilarious, Charlotte is adorable), sad and heart-tugging (as to what happened to Carrie and Miranda). Apart from that, the soundtracks really help lift up or bring down the mood. I particularly love the songs Auld Lang Syne (Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis) and How Can You Mend A Broken Heart (Al Green feat. Joss Stone). Superb music rearrangement of the two oldies.
I definitely have to get the DVD copy of the movie.

Spring Serenade
My current favourite singer, Duffy is absolutely brilliant. Her voice might not be as beautiful as Mariah Carey's or Leona Lewis', but this particular one song of hers is just truly touching, you could just get in tune of what she is feeling when she sang the song...
WARWICK AVENUE (DUFFY)
When I get to Warwick Avenue
Meet me by the entrance of the tube
We can talk things over little time
But promise me you won't stand by the light
When I get to Warwick Avenue
Please draw the past and be true
Don’t say we’re okay
Just because I’m here
You hurt me bad but
I won't shed a tear
I’m leaving you for the last time baby
You think you’re loving,
But you don’t love me
And I’ve been confused
Outta my mind lately
You think you’re loving,
But I want to be free, baby
You’ve hurt me.
When I get to Warwick Avenue
We’ll spend an hour but no more than two
Our only chance to speak once more
I showed you the answers, now here’s the door
When I get to Warwick Avenue
I’ll tell you baby that we’re through
All the days spent together
I wish for better,
And I didn’t want the train to come
Now it’s departed,
I’m broken hearted
Seems like we never started
All those days spent together
When I wished for better
And I didn’t want the train to come.
No, no.
p/s: Such a beautiful song... I could listen to it over and over again without feeling bored. I just love this Welsh lass!

Chempedak
Cempedak is one of my favourite fruits. I love them raw, I love them fried. Yesterday, a dear friend Wai Wai delivered a cempedak to my office. She did warn that the smell is extremely overpowering but I little did I know that it is that strong! I put it in our office pantry and we can all smell it from the reception he he.
Some more Wincy had the odesity to kutuk my cempedak :P
So I have fried cempedak for breakfast today before I went hiking - to 84 Hill again!! This time I made it for 44mins plus. Trying to get in below 40mins the next time.

I Made It!
I made it to 84 Hill! I think it is quite an achievement for me, someone who is not really fond of hiking. And never did I know that 84 Hill is so high up in the sky!
But having your friends there with you can really motivate you to never give up. To think that they are waiting upon your arrival. Ermm not to mention the highly sought after isotonic drink and char mee hoon, served at the pit stop. Doubly yummy!
It so happened that there was a Penang Hill Hiking Competition on the very same day and I was surprised at the number of people who joined the competition! From kids at the age of maybe 5 or 6 to uncles and aunties in their 70s maybe. Or older. That is why I have to keep on moving up up up though my body wants me to go down down down wishing I never should have woken up that morning to purposely torture my body!
I wish I have four lubang hidung though to memudahkan pernafasan.
And I want to do it again!

I'm Hungry!
Contrary to the popular belief, never did I think that Penang is a food haven for everyone. For those who can only consume halal food, you are left with not much choices other than the mamak food, which you can practically get it wherever you are from, judging from the speed of growth of the mamak restaurant businesses of late.
It is hard having to decide what to eat come lunch hour! So much that I like mamak food, I don't think it is wise for me to eat nasi kandar everyday. I did that last year while working in KL. Look what happened to my body. And I don't think I ever regain a normal metabolism momentum after that. Anyways, it is funny now, how my current colleagues will turn to look at me when someone wonders what's for lunch. It's like, wow, I almost feel like a dietitian to have to decide what my friends take for their meals.
But yeah, I do admit there are some pretty kicking mamak food stalls lying around Penang (tips: don't fall for the proper restaurant-y like look, confirm food dia tak sedap. Go for the most shabby and dodgy stall). The one yang duduk sebelah longkang, parit, smelly and with big furry rats jugak yang sangat menyelerakan. Nyum!! Here are some of the best nasik kandar ever: -
1) Nasi Kandar Kampung Melayu (bawah flat) - walaupon semua lauk dia kari kaler oren, tapi memang terangkat habis lah. Try take the beef with boiled egg. The kari memang rasa lain macam yang takkan dapat dirasai kat mana-mana mamak la. Fuhh...
2) Nasi Kandar Line Clear (Penang Road) - ni pon sedap jugak nih. Yang malasnya nak pegi sana is because susah betul nak park kat situ. But then, it is Penang. I seldom eat here but I know the food is quite good. And I know I am not the only one to say this.
3) Nasi Kandar Rifle Range (Pdg Tembak, near Blok G) - This is another mamak stall that serves nasik kandar of which the taste is really rare and of its own. The ayam masak merah is the best, coupled with nasi tomato. Marvellousss.
4) Nasi Kandar Shariff (Gelugor, opp. 7-11) - Love the ayam goreng! Rangup nyerrrr
5) Nasi Kandar Cargas (Bayan Lepas town) - This one always have a verrry long queue no matter what the time is. But then again this stall is only open until 2pm or so. This stall serves more to Malay-style cooking and dishes but the owner looks like a mamak so maybe a mix of both la kot.
I think that is all laa kot. I wish I can put in a more varied food and dishes in the list but mamak food is what Penang is famous for.

Economoney!
Tidaklah saya beratur untuk mengepam minyak ke dalam kereta saya sebelum tengah malam 4 June lepas. Sebab saya hanya memandu kereta Proton saje, jadi kalau setakat nak save RM15 dan beratur bagaikan orang tidak ketahuan (please bear in mind time beratur tu pun minyak kereta habis jugak) jadi baik tak payah la. Boleh saja kalau nak save melalui kaedah lain misalnya berpuasa (dan save lunch money) dan kurangkan bershopping. Which makes more sense to me. But it is comforting to know I am not a kiasu person! :)
But as a consumer it is a lie to say that I am not worried with the current development in our nation, and country, to be specific. I am frustrated and angry over the new subsidy plan but I think there are a few loopholes that one can take advantage of. For an instance yesterday a colleague suggested that why not everyone just get a Proton Tiara (a 2nd hand one would only cost you for about RM1k) and then you will get a return on investment (ROI) of about RM675 per annum due to the rebate which will be given by the Government for owning a car not more than 2000cc. In 2 years, you can get back your investment capital and it is 100% guaranteed by the Government. Not a bad idea, eh?! I am sure there are more loopholes yet to be discovered as of now, and it gets people thinking whether this new subsidy plan is really a smart idea.
But for sure the new subsidy plan distorts my plan of getting a new car. Maybe I should just be content with my creaking old Proton. Or maybe, just maybe, I shall find new ways of making extra money. After all I do believe you have the right to enjoy your life.

Tribute To An Old Friend
Here I am again. Creating yet another first entry or my third or fourth blog. I would have continue with my old blogs, but I just so happen to not being able to retrieve them. Ahh memory loss?! Itu lah asyik pelupa aje, just now I did a memory test and it showed that my brain is working like a 39 year old's! Wah!
But anyway, I am giving the honour of this first post of this blog to congratulate one of my dearest darling friends upon delivering her first child on Sunday, 25 May 2008. Congratulations Shamaz babe and Irwan upon heralding baby Aisyah into this world!
Anyway, Shamaz dear, you look really pink and glowing for someone who has just been in a labour room for less than 24 hours. Deep down I know you are going to continue looking great especially now, what with having a cute baby as an accessory :)) It was truly a happy day for me yesterday having visited you and catch up on things, I can't believe I did not see you not even once during your pregnancy period!
Have a smooth sailing confinement period for the next 60 days girl, and do come back as a smashing hip looking mamma! Hope you, me and Pinky can hang out together again like the good old days :)
Oh yea breaking news, the PM announced just minutes ago that the price of the petrol will be increased to RM2.70 per litre, approximately a 40% hike, effective this midnight tonight. Oh my, that is a very high increase, and you bet a lot of things will definitely follow suit. Let's just hope that one of them is my salary... Dah lah jadi auditor ni nak kena travel sini sana, kalau mileage claim tak naik memang saja laa ni... *sigh* Guess I have to pump in full tank for my car by tonight but I know there will be a verrryyy long queue at the petrol stations! Patutkah saya menjual kereta saya?
