Supermom

I have been wanting to write this entry about this dear friend of mine, Erlina the Superwoman. Hmm nope she does not wear a supertight size S costume and fly in and out of Langkawi saving people in distress nor does she ever wear glasses helping her father in their farm. Why I say she is a superwoman is that she is strong physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally, all in. And she is able to exude her aura to the people around her, influencing them all for the good. She is a good role model in a sense.

I remembered when we used to hang out when studying in Kedah some years ago, she was always able to voice out her thoughts and opinions and making them sound very convincing that you almost believe every words she say. You see, it is not about whether it is the truth or not that she is saying, it is more to being confident and sure of yourself. And Erlina is that. Needless to say, I was always terperangkap with her crazy ideas and plans. I remembered this one time on a New Year's eve, I was happily awaiting on the new year reciting some verses from the Quran in my hostel room, Erlina barged in and managed to persuade me to travel back all the way to Penang that night to celebrate the New Year's eve in Penang. Let me also inform you guys that our uni is right smack in the middle of a nowhere land and you need to travel about 25mins through a vast rubber estate/ jungle, no road side lamps, you can bump into anything, and I do mean anything, along the road.

Erlina always seem to know what she wants. She wanted a happy family, so she married her then sweetheart Masri. She knew back then that she had better options and marriage was not the only option that she has. She can always go to London, be with her mom and get a UK degree. But she thought long term and knew her priorities in life, and she did not just put herself in the picture.

Who would want to throw away a glamorous life in London and live in a kampung in a hot small little island in northern Malaysia?

However, she is doing pretty well as a wife. Then, a mother to a beautiful girl, Emilia. I don't know that you can provide so much to someone and still have enough left for another. She is a wonderful wife, and a terrific mother. There are so many things to write about what she has done, I just don't know where to start :) But the things that she did really teach me a great lesson; be really really sure of what you want, do it with all your heart and soul. Be ikhlas and insya Allah God will help you achieve. And the satisfaction will come thereafter and you will have no regrets.

No 2 is good enough!

Heralding the no 2 champion of MICPASS hiking competition last Saturday....Ernst & Young! :) (though I was not the one who made it for the winning time count but hey, it's all about team spirit right?!)

It was all about good fun, thanks to the managers who are also the sponsors for the event, i.e. Mr Chin and Su Ling who went up to hike with us! Also thanks for the nasi kandar treat! As per Mr Chin, we all retrieve back all the calories burnt by loading up on the curry sotong, udang, ayam, mutton bla bla. Hehe. Once in a while la! Can right!! :P

Also congratulations to KPMG who made it to the first spot. I guess you all deserved it, since the winning guy took only 20minutes from the starting point to the top. Wahlaaweiiii!

As I mature...

... the lessons that I have learned along the way in life are:

1) I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in...

2) I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jackasses.

3) I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.

4) I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

5) I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think.

6) I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

7) I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off.

8) I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished.

9) I've learned to not sweat the petty things, and not pet the sweaty things.

10) I've learned that no matter how beautiful your relationship is in the beginning, it is never going to stay that way unless you and your partner work hard to maintain it that way.

11) I've learned age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

12) I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.

13) I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

14) I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.

15) I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away. And the real pains in the a$$ are permanent.

I don't always have the answers to everything, But I know what to question... and my sixth sense seldom betrays me...

Happy Halloween >:D

Happy Halloween everyone. Even though Halloween is like every other normal day to us Malaysians, it's kind of entertaining how some people are trying to make it sound as if it is a big deal and worth declaring a public holiday of. As if they celebrated Halloween all along. When the truth is that most of their 31st Octobers are actually spent at a mamak joint.

Enough about Halloween. I want to tell you about the great and fulfilling weekend that I had. Last Saturday was spent by me being busy rushing off to places to get ready for my firm's annual dinner. Morning was spent hunting for a preferably black-and-red shawl, so off me and my mom to Chowrasta Bazaar to check out the cheap stuffs they have to offer there. At last I bought a red shawl which cost me RM15 only, compared to the one I had been eyeing at Queensbay Mall which cost a whopping RM199. Nasib baik tak beli yang mahal haha. So, while we were at Penang Road, as usual, layan air sarbat and cucur udang Chowrasta dulu laa...hehehe.

The rest of the preparation for the annual dinner...was a bit disastrous. Somehow I over-budgeted the time for me to get ready. The dinner was supposed to start at 6.30pm but only at 3.45pm I went to the salon to get my hair washed and blew. Being Malaysians, my appointment was ignored of, so I when went there they made me wait. And waiting (at that moment, or any other moment for that matter) is something I cannot afford, as I need to see my mak andam somewhere around 4.30pm. So when I checked with the mak andam, she said that I might have to forget about my face being done by her. So sad and dissappointed! I'm not that good at applying make-ups!

Shouldn't have gone to the salon! Cuz after all the long shampooing, massaging, washing and blowing, my hair looked like as if nothing has been done to it at all. I think I can do better than those people at the D' View salon. Don't ever go there, people. I ban the salon forever and ever. And they made me late for my make-up appointment. Therefore, I went to the annual dinner looking like how I normally would look on my shopping days.

And I did not get the 32" Samsung LCD Screen TV. All I got is a Tupperware. Don't ask me how it looks like.

And the food is pretty lousy. Well, I might enjoy it without the corset that I am wearing. My back felt like breaking into two!!!! So I left right after the dinner. Cannot tahan the pain! Killed my mood to act cute in front of the camera.

The next morning was supposed to be my flight to KL. And I woke up late, but luckily enough I managed to get to the airport in time. So while waiting for the flight I put on my contact lenses - unfortunately one of them got inside my eyelids and behind my eyeball! Panic attack! That was the second time it happened to me. So during the flight I was trying so hard, massage2 my right eyeball so that the lense will show itself. Right before landing, it did. Phew. Lucky. If not maybe I will get eye cancer (is there such disease?). Thank God.

So after touch down, off I went to Fadh's wedding at Masjid al-Mukarramah, Bandar Sri Damansara. Reached there about 11.30am, and I was there rather early to witness the solemnisation ceremony. Fadh looked really beautiful, and all in all it was a very happy and fulfilling ceremony, though a bit sad la kan. There goes another friend of mine into marriagedom... To my dearest friend Fadh, and hubby Thani, congratulations to the both of you. This is what you have always dreamed of and I am happy that it finally happens. And thanks for doakan I :) Will miss our single moments together...

OK, so the wedding reception. Good food (dah lama tak makan nasi kenduri) and great friends (was expecting more friends to attend but the ones who came were enough to make my trip to KL worthwhile). Though the sun had no mercy on us (my face looked like gred A belacan) we had a good time. Pinky, Dino, Din, Amir, Shammy, Rafiq and family, Roho and others, it was awesome to be able to hang out and laugh again. And I really want to applaud my Dear who made an effort to make an appearance as well (kenduri kahwin wajib attend tau kalau dijemput!).

All in all, it was a happy but rather tiring day. From 11.30am I ended up staying until the reception ended at about 4.30pm. So, the rest of the day was spent resting and bonding with my Dear.

The next morning was my flight back to Penang - thanks to my Dear whom willingly waited up an unexpected 2 hours due to the flight delay. Not to mention the long sleepy drive to LCC Terminal. AirAsia - Now everyone can fly late!

So, not a smooth-sailing weekend that I had but I enjoyed every moment of it :)

KL KL

Today is the last day for my Puasa Enam, alhamdulillah dapat jugak habiskan Puasa Enam ni, dah bertahun rasanya tinggalkan puasa sunat ni :) Semoga tahun-tahun depan pun dapat buat jugak, insya Allah. It's actually up to your effort, either you are up to it or not. Either you are willing to give up those fun lunch times with your colleagues and the menu which are not so tempting if you are not fasting but suddenly becomes tantalizing when you are. Yeah..so here I am writing this entry during a lunch time on a beautiful Friday afternoon :)

Anyway, I am looking forward to Sunday, which will be a dear friend Fadh's wedding. Hey I specially booked flight tickets to go and back from KL, all because I have the Firm's annual dinner tomorrow, if not I can just take the bus down to KL tomorrow. And I don't want to miss the annual dinner, who knows I might be lucky enough to get selected to win the 32" Samsung LCD TV! :P

To meet up with good old friends from UiTM Shah Alam while I was studying for my ACCA (those were the times) and also friends from London. I am truly blessed to have forged friendship with so many wonderful people from my course of life. Each of them have their own unique characteristics in them that makes them special to me. It is true when people say not to look at the bad qualities in a person, but search for the good traits, even if it's the tiniest ones. It is hard to like and love someone whom you hated his or her guts, but just try to always remember the goodness the person has in him or her, insya Allah you will try to appreciate that person.

Anyway since I have been fasting for the whole week, I am also looking forward to eat the good food laid down upon me this weekend! Good food eaten with the company of great friends - what more can you ask for?!!! *happy*

Well despite my excitement and anticipation of this weekend, I am feeling kind of sad and down as well. Why oh why? I do not want to type in everything in here but enough for that person to know that I am a bit kecil hati with how that person is treating me at the moment. I do not know what the person is trying to prove or what is going on in that person's head. So why don't you go and sort your mind and feelings out. So that you don't always have to create reasons to treat me like you did. And you know what? I will still pray for your happiness and success in life. If you are happy doing this to me (and to other people - if any), may God bless you. Because I have known you for most of my adult years and I treasure our friendship. And we have witnessed each other grow into who we are now.

I don't know what to say. Except, "Oh KL, here I come!"

Liar liar

Have you ever got lied to by someone? Or, does someone who give empty promises considered lying?

If yes, then what do you feel when you found out that someone actually has the cheek to lie to you? I am sure you will feel sad and betrayed, especially when you are not the type who blab lies to anyone at all, then why would other people do that to you?

And what do you do when you found out? It just so happens that the person is a terrible liar. He doesn't make an effort at all to sound convincing.

For me, I am too nice a person to actually put him/ her to shame that I actually know their old dog's tricks. Normally I will keep quiet, putting a mental note that I would never have a 100% trust in this person ever again. Once a liar, always a liar. I can't stand it when people lie to me when I don't do that to people. Don't they just realize that it is a sin? Astaghfirullahalazim. To them, lies keluar macam air je, it just comes out naturally from their mouth. Tak perlu nak fikir-fikir nak menipu tentang apa.

Don't you just wonder what is going on in their sick little minds?

Same goes to the people with empty promises. Why bother showering people with hope when you don't have the intention to fulfill it. You will only left people heartbroken and disappointed. No matter how small your promises are, when you say that I think you have the obligation to make it happen.

Lembu berpegang kepada tali,
Manusia berpegang kepada janji.

Of netball, caffe latte and cupcakes...

I never knew the game netball can be quite fun. I only wish I have the basic knowledge of the game's rules and skills then maybe I might be able to enjoy it more. Well, it's just that I have been attending the firm's weekly netball training to prepare the team for the upcoming annual MICPASS games. For those who might not know, MICPASS is an annual tournament of various games and competitions for all the accounting firms in Penang. Yeah, it is to prove that us accountants are able to put other body parts into use apart then our calculator-crunching fingers.

So... I attend the netball training though seriously, I know jacksh!+ about the game, other than the fact that the ball is orange in colour. Though come to think I might also be rather mistaken about that, cuz lately during training I saw there is this one other ball which is a combination of the colour white, red and blue. Anyway though I might not be in the primary team for the game, more likely a Reserve due to my unskillfulness, it feels nice to be able to play such an interesting and challenging game. I was told by the trainer that netball is the hardest ball game to play. Unlike basketball where you can simply wack and belasah ajer asal masuk net. Hm, then why haven't I play the game before? In secondary school maybe, since I find it an interesting game to play? Hah, blame it on my school!!! The school which makes its students bury their heads in books to excel in their studies, and worry not about anything else in the outside world other than getting A's in their exams.

On another note, I met up with a primary school friend whom I have lost contact with since like, 14 years ago? On this one fine day I was very free and got nothing to do, and tried to type in all (almost) of my school friends' names in the Facebook/ Friendster search and was able to find some primary school friends. Among them is my dear friend Loke Phei Ling.

So to cut the story short, we have arranged to meet up today over a cup of coffee. Though very excited, at first I was a bit anxious about the meeting since we haven't meet up for sooo long! What did we use to talk about in school? What would we talk about later?

But fortunately it went very well. There were so many things to talk about. Childhood memories, updating each other on what happened after we left primary school in 1994, about current life and future plans. Phei Ling has such good memories! She was telling me how she bumped into a few of our schoolmates years after we had left school and was able to recognize their face. And also she was telling me how I looked totally different from before, apparently I have lost a lot of weight. To prove that, she took out a photograph of myself taken somewhere 11 years ago which she has got into possession of as we used to write letters to each other for a couple of years while in secondary school and I happened to give her a picture of mine during that period of time. Hah I looked so horrible in the picture :P So...round! :D

Anyway I hope we can hang around again. At least I have someone to hang out with in Penang. All is because I am friendless in Penang!! And we plan to hold a small reunion of Class Of '94 in the near future :)

On the other hand, I am sure you all know that the cupcake frenzy has taken over Malaysia for more than a couple of years ago and the madness is getting more intense over the days. Cupcakes are replacing the 5-tier wedding cakes, birthday cakes, wedding doorgifts, etc. The patterns are so cute and creative that they will catch anyone's attention. And the prices are pretty affordable as well.

I am thinking of trying to bake some. Might come in handy in the future :) Mana la tau nanti-nanti nak bake anak punya birthday cake ke? :) Uhh...jauhnya saya memandang ke hadapan :p
