Down to 8

OK, it's down to 8 days now. Slightly more than a week to go.

Hmm let's see what else pending?

1. Pick up the dress from the dressmaker.

2. Finish up the VIP doorgifts...also searching for a label printing shop here in Penang....

3. Finalising the number of guests to the caterer.

4. Decorate the hantaran. Sigh, hope I'll turn creative this coming 1 week.

5. Self-pampering --> other than excessive sleep, do I really have to go to the spa? I mean, does 1 visit really make a difference? Pls advise me...

Hmm...what else?

I am happy...but scared nevertheless...hope everything will be allright...

ps: I am really honoured to those who are making extra big effort to travel up north to be at my wedding... Love you guys! :)

Edible Fruits Basket

Aren't the artificial fruit baskets pretty? The best thing, they are edible! Every single piece of it. And yes, that includes the baskets too. It's such an eye candy if to be put on a hantaran tray. And these fruits baskets are baked for hours in the oven, and they last for years...

Reminds me of a story told by my friend that the ppl in the western countries, they'll keep that small cake on the topmost tier of their fondant wedding cake until their 1st year anniversary...

Oh, these cute little things are available locally from here.

Inai

Oh, the simplicity of it!

Probably I'm just gonna go with the simple henna on my fingers. So I went for an afternoon walk at the Little India; the long rows of Indian shops along the King Street and Queen Street of Penang for an instant henna.

Bought a box of powdered henna, made 100% of grounded henna leaves. I tried experimenting on my little pinky couple of days back. Below is the result:

Dark-orangey

I left the henna on for about one and half hour. I only prepared the henna mixture with air paip. The colour is not that bad right? Though I prefer it if it is a bit darker and more reddish. Jadi bagaimanakah caranya untuk bagi warna inai menjadi lebih terang? I googled some tips online, and below are a few petua:

i) Mix the concoction with air teh yg dibancuh pekat instead of air paip
ii) Put in some drops of pewarna (merah)
iii) Put a few butir of nasi in the concoction, so that the henna will stick easily to ur fingers
iv) When the henna on ur fingers is about to dry up, moisten it up with lemon juice droplets
v) Other than the lemon juice, can also consider minyak cap kapak
vi) After moisten the henna up a few times, and it's about the time to remove the henna, just peel the henna off and do not wash ur hands immediately. Lather ur hands with minyak masak first

Hm, that's all I think. Any other petua? But then again, I read somewhere that warna inai ni ikut darah seseorang tu...though I am not too sure on the relationship of the inai and the darah?

Mamak kedai told me that the inai will last for a week or so...let's see whether if it's true. I hope it can last longer than that...a month, maybe?!

To those who want a simple henna as per above, maybe can consider to put cellotape around the point of where ur henna is going to end on ur fingers. So that the henna tak comot2 or terpanjang or terpendek...

Oh by the way, here is the powdered henna that I bought for RM1.90:

But I saw at Mydin, they are selling 2 boxes of these for RM1.10 or something. Murah, kan?!

Oh So Cheap!

Walked around this one shopping mall in Penang with a mission to find myself a pair of wedding shoes suitable to wear for both nikah and sanding ceremonies.

This one shopping mall memang banyak gila kedai kasut, and banyak juga menjual kasut-kasut merepek.

But as I jalan-jalan, I saw this one cute white peep toe, looks something like this: -

The price? RM30 saje! Too cheap for me not to buy! :)

If I could not find anything nicer towards the wedding, I might just wear this pair of shoes. The only thing is that its a 2 1/2 inch, and I'm looking for something lesser than that...since I am pretty tall, and Ide is well, about the same height as me...

I think I should try it on and see how I look next to him...

Zikir & Doa Untuk Kesejahteraan Rumahtangga

Few days ago I happened to watch a talk show which generally focuses on marriage and relationship based on the Islamic values and principles. A very lively and interesting show, hosted by such a sweet & loving couple. Cute sangat!

At the end of the show, the hosts shared some of the Quranic verses which are advisable the husbands and wives to recite, especially to strengthen the bond between a husband and wife, and lead a marriage full of barakah, insha Allah.

Here are some of the verses of which we can maybe recite after each solat, and before sleep: -

1) Surah Toha ayat 39
2) Surah Yusuf ayat 4
3) Surah Ibrahim ayat 37
4) Surah Alimran ayat 173 and 174 (more afdhal if to recite 33x)
5) Surah An Naml ayat 31 and 32 (to recite and hembus kat leher suami/ isteri - errr make sure hubby or wifey dah tidur time tu)
6) Surah Alimran ayat 200 (this one can recite while preparing a meal for the hubby)

Rasanya ayat-ayat al Quran kat atas ni pendek-pendek saja. If we can allocate some of our time to memorize these verses, coupled with doa for us to lead a happy and blessed married life. Insha Allah.

Meja Pengantin

Whenever ppl mentioned meja pengantin or meja beradab, I have always imagined the long table which would fit 8-10 ppl.

The long meja beradab is something like this: -

Source from here

The longer the table, the more decoration it would require, I think. And it means...it could get pricier. Having a budget of my own, I am considering other alternatives, i.e. to convert one of the round guest tables into a meja pengantin.

Let's look at these pictures below: -

Both are done by Romantis Bridal.

I don't think it requires a lot of decoration, maybe a nice centrepiece would do. As per my previous entry. And of course, kerusi for both the pengantin we can hire the big kerawang chairs tu kan.

All of which I think is much lesser than the deco needed for the long meja pengantin instead.

Oh, and easier to pass2 the food also! :D

I need to decide fast!

There's still so many things pending to be done! (Now, where's the to-do list?!)

Please tell me, what am I supposed to feel?

There's so many mixed feelings blending inside me right now...

But don't take me wrong, of course I am happy to be getting married!
